Bed bugs are small, oval insects that live in dark spaces close to their food source to feed at night. They range in size and are mahogany or red-brown in color. They live close to their food sources and feed at night. Bed bugs are parasitic insects of the cimicid family that feed exclusively on blood. Bed bugs prefer to hide in cracks and crevices during the daytime and come out to feed on the host’s blood at night, usually while the host is sleeping.
